2002 Honda Insight Gasoline-Electric Hybrid - Manual transmission. ZE1, first generation. Clear title, does not currently run or turn over - likely electrical issue between IMA or just ignition to starter - makes a buzzing noise when you turn the key. This vehicle belongs to the first generation of Honda's Insights - aluminum body brought over from the NRX, 3-cylinder gasoline engine primary, battery bank secondary motor. Two seat hatchback - really interesting technology - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Insight. I bought this car in North Carolina in 2015 and it was my daily driver for two years, averaging 53MPG - no issues with the battery bank or drivetrain in that time - I believe the previous owner had Honda replace the battery bank in 2011 while it was still under warranty, but I don't have any documentation for that. It sat in the driveway for two years and does not currently start. Look at the photos for an accurate idea of the condition - clean body (aluminum, so no rust), everything looks good in the engine bay. A few dings on the outside, one of the rear fender panels does not match, sun damage to some of the paint, etc. Interior seats are are worn and most of the carpet has been removed. The manual transmission, light body, and gas motor as primary power source make this a surprisingly fun car to drive for an efficient hybrid. Local pickup only, but happy to adjust to accommodate your transportation plans - vehicle is located in Central Texas, about halfway between Waco and Austin. I am the third owner; it was purchased new in New Hampshire, then to Philadelphia and now with me in the middle of nowhere in central PA. New hybrid batteries were installed by a Honda dealer in December of 2010 just before I got it and it had 105k miles on it when I took it home. I had a 108 miles round trip commute to work but split time carpooling and have a Civic so I didn't drive it in rain or snow, it was just a fair weather commuter car. And it was awesome for that, I mastered hypermiling and my personal best was 82.4 mpg / 804 miles on a single tank. But life happens, my office was closed so now I work from home and I got married and my wife doesn't drive MT. I was hoping to keep it as part of a collection but this car is too special to be hidden away and not driven. I also preferred this as a highway car and recently purchased an EV as my new around-town car. The Insight currently has just over 139k miles and is PA inspected through October. It's got a Hybrid Automotive grid charger and when it is not being driven it has a dedicated garage spot and is hooked to a 12V battery tender. I was told the rear motor mount is worn so I got a new one but haven't installed it yet. I also put a Honda CD player in it from a CRV but I've still got the original cassette player. Grid charger, motor mount and OEM head unit are all included with the car. It's got some scratches on the body and wheels, I assume from its time as a city car. Lifetime MPG is inaccurate as it was reset by my mechanic a couple of times. Door panels and carpeting could stand to be cleaned and is worn through on the driver's floor. Transmission grinds when downshifting into 2nd, otherwise no known issues running or driving, anytime I want to use it I just hop in and go. VIN tags on all body panels. Michelin Energy Saver tires with low miles. Title, owner's manual and 3 keys in-hand. The photos were all taken in the past few days except the high MPG pic. I will be keeping the front and rear license plates. Located about an hour north of Harrisburg, PA.
